About me

Hey there, friends!  Greetings for Atlanta, Georgia, and welcome to my new online adventure.

I am Heather…

and this is my awesome family.

My husband is Billy, and those two cutie pies are our two boys.  The oldest is 3 1/2, and the youngest is nearly 2.

Let’s back it up nearly 10 years ago when I met my hunka-hunka hubby, Billy, online.  Yes, you read that right. We were both playing an online game, were in the same guild (or group) that played almost daily, and with that kind of social life, it was destined to be.  I was a teacher in Alabama.  He was a tech nerd in New Jersey.  After six months of online games, e-mails, and phone conversations, he got the nerve to ask to meet.  A few weeks and a private investigation later, I agreed to let him fly down to Alabama.  A private investigation, you ask?  Why, yes! Would you  agree to a blind date with a potential online weirdo?

Our first date was AWFUL!  Thank goodness he was in town for a week and we didn’t let a bad first day ruin the rest of our lives.  After three years of long distance dating, we got married, I resigned from my first grade teaching position of 12 wonderful years, and I moved to New Jersey.

This is Billy and I in New York City during Christmas.  We were about 40 minutes from NYC, so we often had date nights in the Big Apple.  I found a first grade teaching job in New Jersey, and we lived there for two years.

When we talked about having children, the concern always came back to rearing children with two working parents.  While that works for many families, we both wanted our children to have one parent at home.  We knew that it was time to consider moving to a place where we could afford for me to be home full time.

We moved with Billy’s company to Dallas Texas.  While there, I continually prayed for two things – a child, or a job.  After a year with no children, I sought help with a fertility specialist and began applying for teaching positions.  Six months later, and what is honestly nothing short of a miracle, I found out I was pregnant.  The day after, I got a phone call with a job offer.  It was with great pleasure that I had to turn them down!

This is my sweet big boy!  He is amazingly smart, funny, fun-loving, quirky, and very sensitive.  He is my First Little Piggy, and the first reason I choose (and love) to stay home.

Just a year after our first son’s birth, without warning, we found out we were pregnant again.  I was overwhelmed, but ready for the task – I thought…think…hope…pray (daily).

And this is my Second Little Piggy!  He loves BIG!  He is intense, lively, funny as everything, and has personality plus!  I call him my little lover boy.  When he gives you love, you know it!

So that brings us to this most recent summer vacation.  Mom, Dad, 2.1 kids, mini-van, house in the burbs, stay-at-home mom.  Yet, life isn’t typical!  We have our ups and downs.  We have struggles and joys.  But the best part? At the end of the day, we have each other (and kazoos for road trips)!

This is a blog about our family, my life as a stay-at-home Mom, and the adventures of our two beautiful boys. Right now our children are in a church pre-school for socialization, but we are toying with the idea of homeschooling.   As a former teacher, I feel qualified to give the boys what I see is lacking in the schools in our area.  For now, I try to create a fun environment for learning, playing, and loving.

As my blog grows,  you will find lesson plans, kid friendly recipes, printable teaching material, recipes for families, meal planning, life planning, decorating, and everything else it takes to make this family stay together at the seams.

Come along and join us on our adventure!

Thanks,
